My Reflection - Mock Presentation

I have never had enough confidence to carry out a presentation fluently. Through this mock presentation, I have learnt that ample preparation is very important as it will affect one’s confidence to deliver. With that, one will be familiarised with the content and would be able to present smoothly without any glitch.

In addition, the biggest take away from the mock presentation will be the value of teamwork. It would not be possible without the help of one another’s constant support and contributions. It is insufficient to only have a good grasp of our own slides, but to also know what our teammates are presenting and so to cover for each other’s oversight.

Through this mock presentation, I have a better understanding of my flaws in delivery, such as the lack of passion and eye contacts with the audience. With multiple rehearsals on my own as well as with my team, I hope to overcome my shortcomings and to deliver confidently during the upcoming presentation. Moreover, I will have to work on a smooth transition to my next group member and to also preview what he will be sharing next.

Also, our team have understood the importance of visuals in our presentation. This will not only add colours to our delivery, it also allows our audience to better visualise what we want to portray. For example, we used visuals to illustrate how our holographic display EZIT will work, where will it be placed, as well as a rough sketch of how it will look like. However, I have learnt to keep our slides simple and not add irrelevant images as it will confuse our audience.

To conclude, “Practice the philosophy of continuous improvement. Get a little bit better every single day.” - Brian Tracy

  1. Hi Mindy! I just love how you add quotes in your post to make the reading so much meaningful :) I believe we've learned a lot and realised our mistakes made during presentation and the comments helped us to improve ourselves. It's never too late to learn and improve ourselves! All the best to you for your final! Jiayou!

  2. Hello Mindy, I was at your presentation today and i was taken back by the improvement you have made from the mock presentation.
Keep up the good work, and since you are so fond of quotes let me leave you one from Helmut Schmidt " The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement".

    Thanks
